Frequently Asked Questions During Recruitment

Reno skyline at night1. What do you think is the best thing about working at Egghart & Associates?

I think the best things about working at Egghart & Associates are the possibilities for growth that the firm offers and the way that management really gets involved with the staff and works with them. The partners have an open door policy; we can go in and talk to them about work related matters anytime, whether we have a client problem or a staff problem. Also, even though you may be the lead on a job, the partners are still involved and help out immensely in the client relations, problem solving, and support.

The chance to work with many nice clients.

Working in a different environment with different people on a weekly basis.

2. What do you feel the company culture is?Hot August Nights

Our company culture is laid back and work driven. We like to work but we like to have fun as well. With the travel, we spend so much time together that it is like a family, and just like a family, we all have different personalities - some work better together than others, but we all work together and are very teamwork driven.

Independence and freedom to manage workload; an attitude of doing things right and better.

Open to accepting different viewpoints. The basic rule is: always be open to learning new things and do your personal best.

Relaxed, but focused on getting the job done right.

3. Why did you choose to come and work for a small company such as ours instead of a large national or regional firm?

When I was in college in San Francisco and was looking into the firms in the area, I learned that I am not a good corporate person. I may be an accountant, but I am a cowboy boots and jeans kind of girl and I like to know the people that I work for. In a large firm, to get an appointment with a partner would be hard, but here I can talk with the partners and we work together to figure out problems. I chose a small company just like I chose a small school because I like personal attention and I believe that a smaller firm can give better personal attention to its clients, additionally, I am not just a number to the company. I further believe that this company gives the best chances for advancement and puts efforts into helping you to expand your knowledge and skills based on what you enjoy doing, be it financial audits or internal audits.

A smaller sized company allows you to see the entire picture of how Tribal enterprise or government work. At a large sized firm, you can only specialize in certain components of a Tribal enterprise or government.

The potential to learn and advance more quickly.

4. What do you think is the worst thing about Egghart & Associates?

The best and worst things about the firm is the travel. I love to travel but there are times that traveling every week and not being home can start to wear on you.

Must love travel, and be flexible with unexpected changes in schedules.

5. If you could tell a potential applicant something about the company and the work, what would it be?

I would say you need to be able to think on your feet. Our training is mostly on the job, so you need to be able to learn quickly and be a problem solver and self starter. This is a fast paced industry within accounting and we have three seasons; Casino busy busy season, Tribe busy season, and Compliance busy season. We have an amazing reputation and are starting to have more work than ever and we keep busy all year round, so you would need to be ready to jump in, learn, and work.

If you work hard, and do your best, there are many opportunities for advancement and growth.

If you can think independently and learn to adjust on the fly, you will do well.
